Author Guidelines

The Journal of Innovative Communication Research (JICR) welcomes the submission of high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and research in the field of communication and related interdisciplinary studies. JICR encourages theoretical, empirical, and applied research addressing contemporary communication phenomena at national and international levels. Authors are required to follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth review and publication process.

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Submissions must align with the focus and scope of JICR.

  • Manuscripts should be written in clear and academic English.

  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the content, data, analysis, and references presented in the manuscript.

  • Manuscripts should make a clear contribution to the development of communication theory, research, practice, or related interdisciplinary fields.

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should generally be organized as follows:

  • Title: Clear, concise, informative, and relevant to the research topic (maximum 15 words).

  • Author(s) Information: Full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and email address of the corresponding author.

  • Abstract: 150–250 words summarizing the research background or purpose, methodology, main findings, and conclusion.

  • Keywords: 3–5 relevant keywords.

  • Introduction: Background of the study, research problem, relevant context, research gap, objectives, and significance of the study.

  • Literature Review / Theoretical Framework: Relevant theories, previous studies, concepts, and theoretical perspectives supporting the research.

  • Research Methodology: Research approach, design, participants or data sources, data collection procedures, and data analysis methods.

  • Results and Discussion: Presentation, analysis, interpretation, and discussion of research findings in relation to relevant theories and previous studies.

  • Conclusion: Summary of the main findings, implications, limitations, and recommendations where appropriate.

  • References: Complete list of sources cited in the manuscript.

For conceptual, theoretical, or literature-based manuscripts, the structure may be adjusted according to the nature and methodology of the study.

3. Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be prepared using the official JICR template.

  • Paper size: A4 (210 × 297 mm).

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt.

  • Line spacing: 1.5.

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.

  • Manuscript length: 8–15 pages, including references.

  • Tables, figures, charts, and other visual materials must be clearly presented and appropriately referenced in the manuscript.

  • All tables and figures must have appropriate titles and sources where applicable.

4. Citation and References

  • Authors must use a consistent citation and referencing style, preferably APA 7th Edition.

  • All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list.

  • Every reference listed must be cited in the manuscript.

  • Authors are encouraged to use recent, relevant, and credible scholarly references, preferably publications from the last 5–10 years.

  • Authors should prioritize peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and other authoritative scholarly sources.

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

  • Authors should provide DOI information where available.

5. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the JICR online submission system.

  • Authors must create an account and complete all required author and manuscript metadata.

  • The manuscript file should follow the official JICR template.

  • Authors must ensure that all required submission documents and information have been completed before submitting the manuscript.

  • Manuscripts should be anonymized for the review process when required by the journal's peer-review policy.

  • Authors should carefully check the manuscript for language, formatting, references, and completeness before submission.

6. Peer Review Process

  • All submitted manuscripts are subject to an initial editorial screening and peer-review process.

  • JICR applies a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

  • Manuscripts are evaluated based on originality, relevance, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, clarity, and alignment with the scope of JICR.

  • Reviewers may recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection of a manuscript.

  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer and editorial comments.

  • The final publication decision is made by the editorial team based on the results of the review process.

7. Publication Fee

  • The Article Processing Charge (APC) is IDR 100,000.

  • Payment is required only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication.

  • Authors will be provided with payment instructions by the editorial office after acceptance.

  • No payment guarantees acceptance or influences the editorial and peer-review process.

8. Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must comply with the publication ethics and research integrity standards established by JICR.

  • Plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, and manipulation of research data are strictly prohibited.

  • The similarity index of submitted manuscripts must not exceed 30%.

  • Authors must properly acknowledge and cite all sources used in their research.

  • For research involving human participants, authors must respect participants' privacy, confidentiality, informed consent, and other applicable ethical requirements.

  • Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed.

  • Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate permission for the use of copyrighted materials, photographs, recordings, datasets, or other third-party materials when required.

9. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright of their published work.

  • Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.

  • The license permits others to share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given and derivative works are distributed under the same license.

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that materials incorporated into the manuscript do not infringe upon the rights of third parties.
