Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence technology in education has introduced new complexities
regarding the formation of character and ethical values among students. This research aims to analyze
the impact of AI on understanding ethical values (moral knowing), examine its influence on moral
awareness (moral feeling), and describe the role of educators in directing ethical behavior (moral
action) of students. The research method employs a qualitative approach with a literature study that
analyzes scientific literature from 2020-2025 through content analysis techniques based on Thomas
Lickona's theoretical framework. The research findings indicate that AI creates a gap between
students' technical capabilities and moral awareness, causes emotional disturbances and alienation in
teacher-student relationships, and demands a transformation of educators' roles into facilitators of
ethical learning. The absence of institutional policies and inequality in technology access complicate
character formation in the digital era. This research recommends the development of an ethical
regulatory framework, comprehensive teacher training programs, and the integration of AI literacy
with moral values in the character education curriculum.
