Abstract

Global economic development faces multidimensional challenges including economic inequality, environmental crises, and wealth distribution injustice, thereby generating an urgent need for alternative economic systems based on values and sustainability. Islamic economics offers a comprehensive paradigm through the Maqasid al-Shariah framework, which positions welfare (maslahah) and social justice as primary objectives in economic development. This study aims to analyze the role of Maqasid al-Shariah principles in building a value-based sustainable economic model, to identify the contributions of Islamic economic instruments toward social, economic, and environmental sustainability, and to evaluate their implications for inclusive and equitable economic development. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research methods with content analysis of scientific literature, academic books, international research reports, and relevant policy documents. The findings demonstrate that the integration of Maqasid al-Shariah principles provides an ethical foundation for operationalizing sustainability values, particularly through instruments such as zakat, productive waqf, profit-sharing financing, green sukuk, and Islamic digital finance policies. These findings confirm the potential of Islamic economics as a more just, inclusive, and sustainable alternative economic model
